9.19.08 Dyno Day at Pickup Plus
Saturday's event will begin at 9:00 A.M. at Pick-up Plus on Rt 23
just north of Orange Rd. Ken Roth has arrange to provide all the necessary
provision for a back yard bar-b-que. Please bring you own refreshments,
and your folding chairs.
Gregg Eggleston has a good number (17 ish) cars already
registered and those members should bring the cars ready to go....Check you tire
pressure, fluids and have enough gas to make it thru the three pulls.
See you tomorrow morning at Pick-up Plus.
9.03.08 Bob's Westward Run-Update and Final info.
Bob's Westward Run is set for Sunday, September 14th at 10:00
AM at Woody's Smokehouse BBQ at US 42 and State Route 33 in New California.
ZROC, this is a DRIVING EVENT--have your car full of gas, check your tires and
brakes and KNOW YOUR LIMITS. Please keep it in between the lines and allow
some space between you and the car in front as there are some blind corners
during the run and we are driving through farm country. Loose items in your
car should be strapped down or taken out. Bottled water or pop can be added
to your vehicle as we will take a mid way stop at Ohio Caverns to stretch our
legs and let the rev limiter cool down. We are not staying long even for any
tours this year, but let's set up as we pull in to do another group photo!
Bob's run will finish up back at Woody's for beverages, food and a replay of
the day's events!
Directions will be provided to all who attend!
8.29.08 ZCON-Cleveland.
Please send a note to
Gregg (e-mail) if
you plan to attend ZCON in Cleveland at the end of the month. He would
like to set up caravans as appropriate.
8.29.08 Bob's Westward Run
The always popular Westward Run is scheduled for Sunday September
14th, 2008. Kick-off point is Woody's at U.S .42 and SR 33 in New
California. There a stop at Ohio Caverns. This year will be more of
a round trip as the end point will return you to Woody's for the end of the run
social.Final details will be posted here in
just a few days.
8.28.08 Dyno Day- Please confirm with Gregg!
Tenative DYNO day-Saturday, Sept 20th at Pickups Plus in Lewis
Center on 23 North. Its just past Orange Rd. and address is on "Columbus Pike"
If we have at least 15 cars the cost will be $55 per car. If we have between 15
to 20 the price goes down to $50 per car. These rates are for a basic 3 pulls.
They can also log air/fuel and boost for anyone that wants it for an additional
$15 (covers the cost of installing the wideband and teeing in the boost). Each
participant will receive their own dyno chart which would show SAE corrected
(barometric weather correction so that a run in warmer weather could be compared
to a run in say November when it is cooler out. These are also stored in the
company's computer for later comparisons. This is good for anyone who hasn't
done much in the way of mods to your car but are looking to that in the
future. This would be a great opportunity for the club to get together and
watch some OSU Buckeyes against Troy University on that day looking at around a
9 AM start time. The owner of Pickup Plus said he would close the store that
day and open up the back lot and we could bring in food, a portable TV with
extension cord/generator and our club tent and make a fun day of it!
As your VP of events, I NEED FIRM
COMMITMENTS FROM YOU IN ORDER TO GO FORWARD WITH THIS EVENT. PLEASE RESPOND
ASAP IF YOU ARE DEFINITELY
COMMITTED TO
PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT!!!
8.28.08 Wrap on Summer Rally-
Bob and Karen Kroshefsky get the honors...must be Kocki's expert
navigation...Mark Shmitter came in second..( come pick up you winnings at Jim's
or he'll start to use it.) Third place was Steve & Laura Shultz.
8.11.08-Summer Rally- details....but not to many!
This years Summer Rally will be held this Saturday, August
16th,2008. If it seems that the details are sketchy...well that's on
purpose...you get most of the details at the start....and you and your navigator
will have to be able to adapt to the course to win the big prizes.
Details are finally worked out! Meeting place is Hilliard Davidson High
School parking lot, 5100 Davidson Road, Hilliard Ohio 43026 (Google it for
directions or e-mail/call me) Corner of Davidson and Avery Roads - 4:30 PM.
Cruise will be about 2 hours through Madison, Union and Delaware counties,
ending at Jim Corbett's (2019 Braumiller Road, Delaware) for pizza and cold
beverages. Bring a navigator and your two-way radios so you can help those who
get lost, or even tell them to take some wrong turns! Rally will involve
spotting landmarks and locating assigned scavenger items along the way, prizes
for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; each car will get directions and a list of things to
watch for and things to collect along the way. This is not a "run with the pack"
type of drive; each car will leave 5 minutes apart and go at their own pace and
there are no bonus points for finishing first! Gregg and I do promise you some
fun roads and some interesting things to watch out for, some of which will take
a bit of sleuthing. (Hint: dead end roads still lead to somewhere, and if you
come to a Y in the road, take it!) Those who attended last years rally will
attest that it is a fun event. Event is Rain or Shine. (Pray for shine!)
7.30.08.Summer Rally
The date on this event has been changed to August 16th. Please
check the site in the next week for additional information.
Last year's Summer Evening driving event and rally was a pretty
big success, so Gregg is working out the route to do it all again. Some
conflicts required that the date be moved back one week, so adjust you
calendars.
Watch for updates here and via e-mails from VP Eggleston.
7.7.08 Arthritis- Classic Auto Show and Cruise-in in Dublin
A little wrap-up on the event. Great attendance by the club and
participation of the members. The Arthritis CAS Committee was very
complementary to ZROC for the great turn-out. Couple awards to the members
- Jim Corbett- Best of Show- Daddy
- Tim Davis-Award of Excellence- 300ZX TT
- Chris Myers- Award of Excellance-240Z
The event was well received and our participation will likely continue in the
future as it's a great cause, and there's lots to see. (P.S. There's no
truth to the Board voting Patron as the beverage of ZROC!
☺)
6.11.08 Message from Gregg Eggleston VP. It's VGP time
To all members of ZROC,
as two major events have just passed and these events were out-of-town (
ZDAYZ and Midwest Z)and not all members could attend for various reasons, the
attendance was thin. Mitch's Island Back Yard Party is in 18 days and
(Hawaii shirts optional) hopefully the ZROC attendance to this local event is
high. A side dish and your favorite beverage is appreciated.
Having said that, as
always Sunday the 29th at 8 a.m. ZROC members will be heading out to Vintage
Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. Meeting place is the first road-side rest on 71 North
just before the exit of 36 and 37. Let's have the cars full of gas, lawn
chairs, loaded coolers for the caravan up to Mid-Ohio. ZROC will provide City
Barbecue, side dishes and potato chips.
6.11.08 ZCON deadline approaching.
If your planning on attending ZCON in September, ( link down the page) the early
registration is going to close soon. So get going and save a buck!
6.11.08 Emco Gear Classic is great Grand Am Racing.
The Grand Am is running at M.O. the weekend of 6/20/08-6-22/08 with the feature
event being at 5 p,m, on Saturday. Call Gregg if you are headed up. He'll point
you to the few ZROC ers that are attending.
6.11.08 Wrap up from the Midwest Z Fest- Chicago, IL
Eleven members attended the Midwest Z Fest. Charles and Greg each place in the
car show. 75 vehicles attended and the Windy City Z Club put on a good show.
Saturday highlight was the trip to Joliet to the Autobahn Auto Country Club,
where we made nice 60 m.p.h. cycle of the North course, no passing allowed.
Fun...but after a while behind some slow guy....well...a good time. ZROC held
the best parking lot party, complete with our own Flower Children... showing off
her true image.....closet Hippie!.
